If you are a millennial looking for a therapist, you may have doubts about whether therapy will even help. You might feel alone, tense, hopeless, and overwhelmed with all that’s going on in the world and your life. You’re in a time where things are changing dramatically and unpredictably. You’re experiencing things in your life you never imagined, and you have no clue how to begin moving toward a new way of living.
Perhaps your relationships aren’t as deep as you’d like them to be. On the surface things may seem fine, but you feel discontent, lonely, and in pain. You’re struggling to find clarity, purpose, and passion. You deserve support. Sometimes we think of self-care as things we do alone, but I believe one of the greatest acts of self-care is acknowledging when we need the support of others.
How would your life be different if you were able to stay present to each moment and live in alignment with what you value? What would it be like to have healthy intimate relationships and a sense of direction? You do not have to do this alone. Together, we can get curious about life and create something that fills you up.
Through years of my own therapy and meditation practice—and with the support of others—I have learned how to manage anxious and depressive symptoms, cope with trauma, and connect with my body. My healing journey has dramatically changed the quality of my life and I hope to help you do the same.
I use a wide variety of therapies, but emphasize the use of EMDR (trauma process therapy), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and a variety of creative and expressive techniques. Each person has their own path, and my goal as a therapist is to work with you to identify what your path of healing calls for in this moment. I have found that most clients benefit from work that helps them build self-awareness, self-regulation, self-expression, and self-compassion; these skills are at the core of all that I do. Together, we will center you on your path of healing.
I am a licensed clinical social worker who has worked with kids, teens, and adults with severe trauma histories, depression, anxiety, relationship distress, and many other issues. I have a particular interest in working with millennials experiencing issues around identity and transition (e.g. faith transition, grief & loss, sexuality, integrating psychedelic experiences, or anything related to the question, “Who am I?”).
I know how frustrating and exhausting it can be to find a therapist who is a good fit. To make that process smoother for you, I offer a free phone consultation to explore whether we’re a good fit before meeting. Please call our main number and our office manager will help you set that up. I also offer walking sessions with clients who prefer to be on the move in nature rather than sitting in an office.
These lyrics in the song “Nine” by Sleeping at Last sum up why I do this work: To know and love ourselves and others well is the most difficult and meaningful work we’ll ever do.
My pronouns are he/him. I am LGBTQ+ allied. I am currently accepting new clients. Visit the contact us page to schedule an appointment today. I look forward to working with you!
